So, what do you do?

Thru the years I've noticed that when people meet for the first time, especially men, we ask,"So what do you do?" This is kind of a mancode for, define yourself. Men are simple creatures. Don't beat around the bush, just tell me what you do and what you've done. When I'm seated next to a man on a flight it's normally the second, no later than third thing asked. Now for most people this would be a simple question. "I'm a sales rep for..." or "I'm a CPA". Neat and tidy, but for me my normal response is "What day is it?" Or better yet, "What time of the day is it?" If I tell them all the different things I do, or are known for doing then they probably wouldn't believe me. If you are checking out my blog, you could have met me while functioning in a variety of roles. Maybe I met you while speaking at childrens camp, doing vetriloquism for christian school fundraiser banquet, a public school drug awareness program, hosting a VOCL candidate forum, teaching at a puppet festival, or you've attended Real Family Fellowship, the church I pastor that my wife, Fondee, and I founded several years ago. Though I seem to be involved in several interesting and extremely worthwhile endeavors, I believe that the greatest and most worthwhile thing "I do" (outside of loving the Lord with all my heart, soul, and mind) is my role and responsibility as husband and father. Cultural transformation thru a biblical model of family is my obsession. There are other influences currently that are fighting for the position of primary influencer but God's first model is the best. Cultural transformation should begin in the home, so what better place to start than right here... or for you right there. Gotta run. More to come.
